The Japan national football team has announced its final squad which will perform at the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia. The list of 23 covers:
Goalkeepers: Eiji Kawashima (Metz), Masaaki Higashiguchi (Gamba Osaka), Kosuke Nakamura (Kashiwa Reysol).
Defenders: Yuto Nagatomo (Galatasaray), Gotoku Sakai (Hamburger), Tomoaki Makino (Urawa Red Diamonds), Gen Shoji (Kashima Antlers), Wataru Endo (Urawa Red Diamonds), Maya Yoshida (Southampton), Hiroki Sakai (Marseille), Naomichi Ueda (Kashima Antlers).
Midfielders: Makoto Hasebe (Eintracht), Shinji Kagawa (Borussia Dortmund), Gaku Shibasaki (Getafe), Ryota Ohshima (Kawasaki Frontale), Hotaru Yamaguchi (Cerezo Osaka), Keisuke Honda (Pachuca), Genki Haraguchi (Fortuna), Takashi Inui (Eibar), Takashi Usami (Fortuna).
Forwards: Shinji Okazaki (Leicester), Yuya Osako (Werder), Yoshinori Muto (Mainz).
The Japanese squad is not a surprise: all regular players are called by Akira Nishino, the head coach of the team, who has been in office for only two months.
Leaders of Samurais are the most experienced midfielders Keisuke Honda and Shinji Kagawa. Another icon in the Japanese squad is the Leicester`s forward Shinji Okazaki.
