The France national football team became one of the first to announce its FIFA World Cup squad which looks as follows:
Goalkeepers: Alphonse Areola (PSG), Hugo Lloris (Tottenham), Steve Mandanda (Marseille);
Defenders: Lucas Hernandez (Atletico), Presnel Kimpembe (PSG), Benjamin Mendy (Manchester City), Djibril Sidibe (Monaco), Adil Rami (Marseille), Benjamin Pavard (Stuttgart), Samuel Umtiti (Barcelona), Raphael Varane (Real);
Midfielders: Blaise Matuidi (Juventus), Paul Pogba (Manchester United), N'Golo Kante (Chelsea), Corentin Tolisso (Bayern), Steven Nzonzi (Sevilla);
Forwards: Olivier Giroud (Chelsea), Antoine Griezmann (Atletico), Ousmane Dembele (Barcelona), Thomas Lemar (Monaco), Kylian Mbappe (PSG), Florian Thauvin (Marseille), Nabil Fekir (Lyon);
The coach of The Tri-colours Didier Deschamps faced the dilemma when 2-3 top football players competed for each place in the team attacking line. As a result, Kylian Mbappe and Olivier Giroud were chosen as attacking players.
The coach`s choice for Giroud looks the most disputable. Olivier has played his weak season in the English Premier League where at first he failed to meet competition in the Arsenal squad to another French Alexandre Lacazette, and then unclearly performed in Chelsea. However, Deschamps, choosing between Giroud and Lacazette, has left the first one in the squad.
Besides Lacazette, another star forward playing for England, Anthony Martial, didn`t get into the final squad of the France national team. However, Anthony was not this season key player in Manchester United. Therefore, his absence in the roster of 23 is fair.
Also, there was no place in the squad for Karim Benzema, Aymeric Laporte and Adrien Rabiot. Laurent Koscielny, Kingsley Coman and Dimitri Payet are going to miss the World Cup in Russia due to injuries.
