Gareth Southgate, the head coach of the England national team, announces the squad to perform on the 2018 FIFA World Cup Russia. There are the following players in the list:
Goalkeepers: Jack Butland (Stoke City), Jordan Pickford (Everton), Nick Pope (Burnley).
Defenders: Trent Alexander-Arnold (Liverpool), Gary Cahill (Chelsea), Phil Jones (Manchester United), Harry Maguire (Leicester), Danny Rose (Tottenham), John Stones (Manchester City), Kieran Trippier (Tottenham), Kyle Walker (Manchester City), Ashley Young (Manchester United).
Midfielders: Eric Dier (Tottenham), Dele Alli (Tottenham), Jordan Henderson (Liverpool), Fabian Delph (Manchester City), Jesse Lingard (Manchester United), Ruben Loftus-Cheek (Chelsea).
Forwards: Harry Kane (Tottenham), Marcus Rashford (Manchester United), Raheem Sterling (Manchester City), Danny Welbeck (Arsenal), Jamie Vardy (Leicester).
The Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere has missed the squad which appeared a big surprise from Gareth Southgate. Jack spent a quite good season and was one of the team leaders. However, instead of him Loftus-Cheek, a young talent from Chelsea, was invited into the national team. Highly likely, Ruben made great impression on the coaching staff during the autumn friendly matches of the England national team where he was one of the best on the pitch.
Joe Hart, the main goalkeeper of the team in the qualifying tournament, was not called to take part in the World Cup in Russia. For many experts such a decision of the coach became a bolt from the blue. Southgate explained his choice with weak game of Hart in the season second half.
In general, the England national football team by right remains a favorite of the forthcoming tournament. All the team lines are staffed by players of the leading English clubs. Whether the ancestors of football are able to interfere with distribution of medals, we will learn very soon.
