Stadium features

First, the stadium was planned to be built in the center of Samara where the Rivers Samara and Volga marry. However, according to public hearings and after the expert`s opinion, they dropped the idea. The matter is that the local authority should have remade the transport infrastructure seriously for the sake of the stadium in the downtown. As a result, the stadium was constructed on the skirt of the town, on the highest site of Samara, so called Radiotsentr. Confused by the choice of the stadium location, the construction started with substantial delay. Thus, Samara Arena is the last stadium to be put into operation.

The area of the stadium and nearby infrastructure will be 930 hectares. For comparison: the largest till 2017 sports center of Russia Moscow Luzhniki occupies only 180 hectares.

The roof executed like a dome and completely covers the stadium. It is the main feature due to which Samara Arena looks like a UFO. The seating is made in two tiers completely under the roof.

Stadium weak points

The Samara stadium is located in the suburb, therefore it is not very convenient to get there by public transport. However, if the tournament organizers manage to complete the high-speed tram line by the tournament, the problem will be solved.

Samara Arena is going to become the sixth important stadium in Russia. First, the stadium enjoys the privilege to host the quarter final match of the 2018 FIFA World Cup. Secondly, after the tournament the stadium will be transferred to the local team Krylia Sovetov very popular in the city and will gather a lot of fans to watch matches at the new stadium.
