Nizhny Novgorod on the city map:
The stadium is located in the city canter, in the picturesque place where the Oka River and the Volga River flow together. Therefore, the stadium is built in low-key classical style not to spoil the looks of the city major attraction. Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, an architecture monument, is a few dozens of meters from the stadium.
The stadium is associated with an antique temple due to its cylindrical columns. The seating area is tilted so to open an excellent view of the field.
The wavy arrangement of stands and white-and-blue illumination are performed to remind water and the sky.
Stadium weak points
The stadium is located in the downtown area, but its transport availability can become a problem. It is always easier to get to the stadium by car, but during the 2018 FIFA World Cup travelling by car near the stadium will be limited. Also, it is worth pointing out the high cost of the stadium operation – annually the city has to spend about 7 million euros for the stadium maintenance.
By the World Cup Nizhny Novgorod has built another up-to-date stadium which must become the key infrastructure facility and give a new impulse for development of sports, including football, in the city.
