In years to come, Russia will become the host country of three largest football tournaments at once. First, in 2017 in four cities of the country (Saint Petersburg, Moscow, Kazan and Sochi) the 2017 Confederations Cup matches will take place.
A year later, in 2018, already eleven megalopolises (Saint Petersburg, Moscow, Kazan, Sochi, Samara, Volgograd, Kaliningrad, Rostov-on-Don, Saransk, Nizhny Novgorod and Yekaterinburg) will receive the main football tournament — the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
In 2020 the big football will come back to Russia again. This time Saint Petersburg enjoys the privilege to receive several matches of the anniversary European Championship.
